A Banya is a typical Russian public bathhouse designed to enjoy dry or wet heat sessions. You can relax in the cultural capital of Russia at a traditional Banya. The particular Banya in St Petersburg where you will enjoy your experience is at Yamskiye Baths, this is one of the oldest Banyas in Russia and many famous names from Russia's historic past vested the Yamskiye Baths including the writer Dostoyevsky.
During your Russian Bath Experience will be directed by one of the bath assistants so you can enjoy this experience as it is intended. On arrival you will be greeted and directed to your private room, here you will be given your bath set, you will need to bring with you your bath slippers and shampoos though, these will not be included.
You will then enjoy the steam room, whilst at your Banya experience, why not partake in the tradition of using the branches and leaves. Upon sometime in the steam room you will then jump into the cold plunge pool in order to neutralise your body temperature. This procedure is repeated several times. It is believed that the more you carry out this method the younger your skin will look and feel.
Lunch will soon be upon you and this Russian Banya experience in St Petersburg also includes a traditional Russian lunch at a local restaurant. Here you will enjoy a sit-down meal of typical Russian delicacies and wash it all down with some Russian Morse and vodka.
