Experience Rom Hoop Market and try your hand at kite making

This kite making experience in Thailand with a visit to one of the craziest markets on earth begins in Bangkok where you will be collected by your Thailand tour guide at 08:00. With your guide you'll head over to Mahachai by private mini bus transfer (travel time is approximately 1 hour) and when we arrive in Mahachai, we will take the local train (1-hour train journey) to Maeklong Market, which is also known as Rom Hoop Market. From first glance, when you visit Maeklong Market, you’d be forgiven for thinking it is just like any other Thai market, but you'd be wrong. There's something very different about Rom Hoop Market because it's located right on the tracks of an active railway line. When a train is due to travel this part of the line, a sense of urgency fills the market as market vendors quickly fold away their umbrellas, canvases and remove their goods and containers placed close to the tracks when the train arriving and they will restore the market when the train has passed. As you enjoy your Maeklong Railway Market Tour make sure that you inform your Thailand tour guide of any produce or goods you would like to see of know about and they will lead you to the relevant vendors and translate if required.

After your tour of Maeklong Market, we will head to lunch at a local restaurant to sample some of the local delights. After lunch we will head over to Baan Bang Phlap. Your afternoon will be spent enjoining a quintessential Thai experience where you will visit a small local community in peaceful, comfortable setting. When you arrive, you will be able to explore the beautiful orchards around the area by bicycle. You can enjoy the taste of fresh fruits and fresh air, being well away from the city. When you meet the locals, they will teach you all about planting organic fruits, production of organic fertilizer and will teach you how ferment sweet fruits are created. There are numerous techniques that the local Baan Bang Phlap community have mastered and you will get to visit the locals in their homes and meet the people who have made a craft from the fruits that they grow. You will be shown techniques as such as dried fruits and visit the tasting house.

Not only does the Baan Bang Phlap community produce fruit but they also produce vegetables and herbs, they will also show you a local delicacy of charcoal fruit, at the charcoal making house you will disocver how fruits can be transformed into fruity charcoals. Moving on from the foods, the Baan Bang Phlap community are also well known for their kite making skills, as far as kite making in Thailand goes the Baan Bang Phlap community are at the top of the league of kite makers. The local Thai kite making house, will give you the fantastic opportunity to take part in kite making in Thailand's rustic countryside. The master kite maker or Chula maker as it is known locally has been producing kites for over 50 years and he persoanlly guarantees that all of his kites are able to fly.

After your kite making experience it will sadly time to leave the Baan Bang Phlap community and head back to Bangkok, where you should arrive by 17:00 ready for dinner.
