Spend a day exploring the beauty of Galle
You will be picked up from your hotel (only in Colombo city) or in front of Dutch hospital Colombo 01 by our chauffeur guide at 07:30 a.m. and commence the day tour to Galle. You will be transferred via Southern highway and reach Galle city within 2 to 2:30 hours.
On arrival to Galle you will be directed to Galle Fort Sightseeing. Galle Fort was first built by Portuguese and it was again fortified by Dutch when Sri Lanka was Colonial under them. It was built on a rocky peninsula and three sides are covered by sea. Just after the entrance you can see the front wall and a clock tower at the top of the wall. When you climb the front wall you can will experience some amazing views including the Galle international Cricket stadium.
When you move to the southernmost end of the fort you can see the Flag Rock, which was used as a bastion by Portuguese. Recently it has become more attractive for tourist visits due to the locals leaping into the water from the rock with the intention to earn some money from the foreigners.
Next up on your Day tour to Galle, you will be met at the Light House located in southern end of the promontory. The Light House was built in 1938 in order to aid ships entering Galle harbour.
You can enjoy a Sri Lankan buffet lunch at a local restaurant which is situated in Galle Fort (at your expense). After lunch you can visit various kind of shops which are available in Galle fort such as art and crafts, jewellery, antiques, clothes etc.
Then on your day tour in Galle, you will take tours of the Maritime Archaeology Museum, Dutch Reformed Church (which dates back to 1640) and Galle National Museum.
On completion of Galle tour, you will transfer back to Colombo and be dropped off at your hotel or chosen collection point.
