Day Trip to Yasuni National Park - Amazon Ecuador

Visit the Amazon in Ecuador

The Yasuni National Park is located on the south bank of the Napo River, the largest river of the Ecuadorian Amazon. The trip starts from the town of Coca in comfortable ecological roof canoes, outboard motors operated. at 6:00 am.
The canoe trip down the river takes about two hours, box lunch will be provided to Passengers in the Park.

During the navigation you will see birds such as herons, kingfishers, terns and other shore birds species and beautiful landscapes.

Arriving at the Yaku Kawsay Interpretation Center, visitors are warmly welcome with a traditional drink, after that, our first walk in the forest in search for Fauna and Flora, then visit the Interpretation Center of Yaku Kawsay, were indigenous woman will show us the dayly basics of their life and traditions, tipical native lunch, in the afternoon short canoe ride in one of the creeks of the Yasuni.

Back to Coca at around 17:30

On The Canoe: For the ride to the Yasuni National Park from Coca our canoe is covered against sun and rain, but a light jacket can be useful for the wind and spray. Be sure to wear sun protection, as the sun’s reflection off the water can sometimes cause a burn.

Weather: In the tropical rainforest it is best to be prepared for all kinds of weather. A common question we receive is about the “dry and rainy seasons” of the Amazon, but it is best not to trust such generalizations to plan a trip. At times it can be hot and sunny, but a cool rainstorm may appear at a moment’s notice during any time of the year.

Clothing: Lightweight pants and long sleeved cotton shirts are ideal for walks in the forest. However, if you are more comfortable wearing short sleeves, remember that exposed skin may need a light dousing with insect repellant.
During the rain, full waterproof clothing can be uncomfortable as it often gets you wet with sweat instead of water, but rain ponchos are recommendable for tropical cloudbursts. Rubber boots are a must to walk in the forest, please bring your own boots, if you do not have them, you can buy a pair in the city of Coca for $12 dollars.
