Departing from Reykjaík, your Sólheimajökull glacier walk is one of the easier glacier walks on offer in Iceland and the best way to discover Iceland.
You will be collected from Reykjaík, it takes a couple of hours driving to arrive at our starting point. On the drive towards the Sólheimajökull glacier walk you'll pass underneath the troublesome Eyjafjallajökull volcano (this was the volcano that was the cause of many traveller’s delays during the Spring of 2010. East of Eyjafjallajökull volcano lays Sólheimajökull, an outlet glacier from Iceland's fourth largest glacier Mýrdalsjökull.
Our expert guide will take you on a relatively easy and safe Iceland glacier walk on crampons. As you explore the icy landscapes of Sólheimajökull, your tour guide will teach you about these wonderous disappearing giants. The Sólheimajökull glacier walk will take to you see some magical ice sculptures, deep crevasses and ridges. Your Iceland mountain guides will also teach how to use the glacier equipment.
As the glacier tour of Sólheimajökull concludes we will take the journey back to Reykjaík but before we get back to the city, we will stop off at Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls.

Optional extras that you may be hired are rain jacket and trousers, and hiking boots. We do recommend that when taking part in a glacier tour in Iceland that you bring warm clothing, hiking boots rain gear and something to eat.
The Sólheimajökull glacier walk in Iceland has all year-round availability and the whole experience including transfers will last all day, approximately 9 hours but you will spend about 2 hours on the ice. Your Icelandic mountain guide will conduct the glacier tour in English. Glacier walking can be a little strenuous, therefore we do recommend that you are in good health to take part.
