When you visit Malahide Castle you are visiting a structure whose origin dates back to the twelfth century and which is set on an estate that measures over 260 acres. Originally the home of Richard Talbot, a knight that was granted the harbour and lands of Malahide by Henry II on a visit to Ireland. Malahide Castle and estate was then kept within the Talbot family for nearly 800 years until 1976, though the castle was granted to Miles Corbet for 11 years between 1649 and 1660. Malahide Castle is steeped in history and has been vastly developed over the centuries, now when you visit the castle you will be able to enjoy a guided tour of Malahide Castle and Estate and view some of the beautiful accommodation including the Oak Room and Great Hall. You will also get the chance to visit the Talbot Botanic Gardens on your visit to Malahide Castle.
Howth Harbour is positioned north east of Dublin city centre and forms the northern area of Dublin bay. When you visit Howth Harbour you will be visiting a quaint harbour, which was originally a small fishing village but has no become a suburban area of Dublin, complete with golf courses, wild hillsides, cliffs and coastal path and also has a small quarry and a busy commercial fishing port.
